The Missouri Council of the Blind is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment that respects and values diversity. MCB prohibits discrimination against any individual based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.

Purpose

The Missouri Council of the Blind is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment that respects and values diversity. This Non-Discrimination Policy establishes guidelines to ensure fair treatment, equal opportunity, and an environment free from discrimination, particularly for individuals with disabilities.

Policy Statement

The Missouri Council of the Blind prohibits discrimination against any individual based on the following characteristics:

  • Disability
  • Sexual orientation
  • Gender identity
  • Any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law

This policy applies to all members, staff, volunteers, and participants in programs and activities.

Reporting Discrimination

All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly and thoroughly.

Retaliation Prohibited

The Missouri Council of the Blind prohibits retaliation against any individual who reports discrimination or participates in an investigation. Retaliation can result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination or revoking of membership or employment.

Training and Awareness

The Missouri Council of the Blind will provide training and resources to all members, staff, and volunteers to promote understanding of this policy, the importance of diversity and inclusion, and the rights of individuals with disabilities.

Policy Review

This Non-Discrimination Policy will be reviewed annually to ensure that it remains effective and compliant with applicable laws and best practices.
