Subject: [leadership] McDaniel First-Timer Application Deadline Extended toMay 1.

Carol Ewing, Chair of the Dujrward K. McDaniel Fund Committee, has asked that I send this message out to the ACB Leadership List so that you can get this information out to anyone you may think would be a good candidate for this great experience.

The deadline for submission of application letters has been extended to May 1st this year. I am also including the text of the two documents regarding the committee guidelines and the expectations for this program recipients.

The following guidelines were approved by the ACB Board of Directors February 21, 2009, Washington D.C.

DURWARD K. McDANIEL MEMORIAL FUND FIRST TIMER PROGRAM

1. There should be two recipients, one each from opposite sides of the Mississippi River.

2. The announcements should be advertised in all the appropriate places.

3. Letters must be received by April 1 into the national office.

4. Each applicant must have a letter of sponsorship from his/her state or special interest affiliate president.

5. Each applicant must submit a personal narrative stating how this scholarship will be of benefit to him or her, as well as their affiliate and the community at-large.

6. An applicant must be an active member in good standing of ACB or one of its affiliates.

7. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be blind or visually impaired.

8. Applicants must not have attended a previous ACB national convention, whether or not a member at that time.
