The positive momentum from last week's Legislative Seminar continues as 6 new cosponsors have signed on to H.R.734, Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act of 2009. This brings the total number of cosponsors to a staggering 206. 

Given the buzz on Capitol Hill concerning this issue it appears to be an opportune time to express ACB's passionate belief that a hearing should be held to address the unintended dangers that hybrid and other electric vehicles present to the pedestrian public, specifically the blind and visually impaired community. 

Representative Henry Waxman (D-CA) is the Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce which is where H.R.734 currently resides.

 

On Monday Please call Rep. Waxman's office to urge this subject be given proper exposure through a hearing in the Energy and Commerce Committee. 

The independence and safety of millions of people who are blind or visually impaired rests on Mr. Waxman's shoulders and he should be made abundantly aware of this.
