The Governor's office has announced the elimination or modification of 31 state boards and commissions.  Thirteen of the bodies were eliminated by Executive Order, and the Governor will ask the legislature to pass bills for changes to 18 additional boards and commissions created by statue.  In the Senate, the legislation will be sponsored by Sen. Delbert Scott and in the House by Rep. Steve Hobbs.  Below are some of the disability-related entities affected and the reasons provided for the changes:

Governor's Council on Aging - eliminated because functions are similar to and can be incorporated into the State Board of Senior Service.

Personal Independence Commission - eliminated because of inactivity and functions duplicate the Governor's Council on Disability.

Head Injury Advisory Council - Change name to Brain Injury Advisory Council and modify membership from 25 members to 15. 

Comprehensive Entry Point System for Long-Term Care (subcommittee) - eliminated because ceased to function after issuing initial report. 

Advisory Committee on Lead Poisoning - eliminate and transfer duties to Board of Health.

Suicide Prevention Advisory Committee - eliminate and appoint several members to vacant slots on State Advisory Council on Comprehensive Psychiatric Services.

Medical and Technical Advisory Committee - eliminate and incorporate duties into MO HealthNet Oversight Committee.
