Happy 2010 Wolfner Library Readers!

For those interested in how Missouri's digital transition finished 2009.

One third of Wolfner Library's December talking book circulation was digital. Cassette and digital circulation combined for 35,497. RC circulation was 23,838 for 67% while DB accounted for 11,659 for 33% of circulation; an 11% increase over November.

If digital download is weighed into the equation, Decembers 4,714 BARD downloads would increase book circulation to 40,211 with digital circulation accounting for to 40% of book circulation.

I relish the fact that 96% of the library's digital books are in circulation. Wolfner Library's digital collection consists of 1,231 digital titles with a total of 13,436 copies. This morning only 426 digital books were on the shelf, while 13,010 copies are in circulation.

Finally, December statistics show that 345 cassette machines were returned while only 268 were checked out. That ratio is expected to continue as patrons request their reader advisors to send only digital titles.
