Hello to All:

It is with profound sadness that I write to tell you that our community has 
suffered another great loss. I just learned that Laurinda Steele Lacey 
passed away at her home in Bethesda, Maryland at approximately noon today. 
She had been battling a resurgence of her brain cancer these past ten years.

Since this email is going out over several lists and is hence addressing 
several audiences, each of you will have different memories of Laurinda 
depending on the context in which you knew her or had occasion to interact 
with her. In the late eighties and early nineties, she staffed the 
information desk at ACB national conventions. To those of us in the 
Washington DC metropolitan area, she was the uniquely cheery presence at 
Elsworth (Skip) Sharpe's Christmas parties and so much more.

I first met Laurinda in 1978 when she was working at the Architectural, 
Transportation and Communication Compliance Board and I was a summer legal 
intern between my first and second years in law school. I could fill a book 
with the happy memories of that summer.

I have no further information at this point; visitation location and hours, 
funeral arrangements, etc.
