News and Notes from the President

I am pleased to announce our keynote speaker for the April 24, 2010 annual 
meeting in Jefferson City.  Charlotte Hubbard is an author and Wolfner 
Library volunteer.  She has recorded her own book for Wolfner Library, A 
Patchwork Family. You will receive a separate announcement concerning the 
details for the Friends' annual meeting.

The 2010 Friends of Wolfner Library Nomination committee has been appointed. 
The chairman is Chip Haley (Board member), Melinda Cook (Board member), 
Robert Spears (member), and John Weidlich (member).  Details on the 
nominations and elections process are presented elsewhere.

Reminder to all Friends members that you still have time to have a free 2010 
Friends membership if you recruit at least 2 new individuals to the Friends. 
Contact any Board member for details or look at the Friends of Wolfner 
Highlights Spring 2009 issue for the Member Recruitment Challenge. Friends 
Membership applications can be obtained from any Board member.  Current 
members soon will be receiving the renewal notices by mail.

subscribe link, you will find information on how to subscribe to the

digital books.  There is also a link to other discussion lists.  From here 
you can find out how to subscribe to DB Review Discussion List.  This list 
offers readers of the BARD programs a place to post reviews and general 
discussion about digital books

Nominations and Elections for Friends Board
The Friends of Wolfner Library's Nominating Committee is seeking candidates 
to serve on the Friends of the Wolfner Library Board. Board members should 
be knowledgeable about Wolfner Library services and have the ability to make 
a positive and meaningful contribution to the Friends Board through active 
participation both on the Board and in subcommittees. Board members will be 
elected at the Friends annual meeting on Saturday, April 24, 2010.  Anyone 
who has been a member of the Friends for at least one full year and has paid 
his or her dues is eligible to serve.  Contact one of the following 
Nominating Committee members with potential candidates by March 15, 2010. 
Remember to include a brief biography with the nomination.

Friends of Wolfner Library on the Road
The Friends of Wolfner Library will be present at several conventions in 
2010 to get our message out and to invite people to become a member.  Come 
visit us.  The first is the 2010 National Federation of the Blind of 
Missouri convention to be held in Springfield, Missouri.  Our booth will be 
open on Friday March 26, 2010.

We will be present at the Power Up! convention in Columbia, Missouri on 
April 26 and 27, 2010.

We hope to schedule the Missouri Council of the Blind later in 2010.  Other 
presentations and visits will follow during the year.  If you have a 
Missouri organization and believe our message would be of interest, contact 
us for a possible visit.
