Subject: [Modisabilaw] Hearings the Week of February 15th
Several hearings of interest are scheduled for next week. One that is not yet on the schedule, but which may be held is on HB1918 which would cap the number of personal care attendant (PCA) services. There has been some talk that the bill may be heard Wednesday or Thursday. It may be a substitute bill that is introduced, which would cap PCA services at 100 hours per month, rather than the 60 hour per month limit in the current bill. If so, this would still provide an average of only 25 hours a week -- not meeting the needs of Missourians who require more hours. The bill is assigned to the House Health Care Policy Committee. We will issue a posting as soon as it's clear whether a hearing will be scheduled.
House Appropriations - Health, Mental Health & Social Services is scheduled to meet to continue hearings on Departmental budget presentations: Tuesday, February 16 at 2:00 pm; Wednesday, February 17 at 2:00 pm; Thursday, Feb. 18th at 8:00 am. All hearings will be in hearing room 5.
Several other hearings of note are scheduled for TUESDAY, Feb. 16th--
SB606 - Comprehensive Day Rehabilitation Services
by Senator Stouffer
The bill would add comprehensive day rehabilitation services as a covered service under MO HealthNet for persons with traumatic brain injury. The bill is scheduled for a hearing on Tuesday, Feb. 16th at 8:15 a.m. in the Senate Health, Mental Health, Seniors and Families Committee in SCR 1.
HJR 64 - Voter Identification
by Rep. Cox
If passed and then approved by voters, this resolution would require a photo ID in order to vote. Persons with disabilities without a photo ID would be able to vote provisionally. Their vote would not count until the local election authority verified that they were legal, registered voters. The bill is scheduled to be heard in the House Elections Committee on Tuesday, Feb. 16th at 8:15 am in hearing room 5.
HB1637 - MS Society License Plate
by Rep. Wasson
This bill would allow for creation of a Multiple Sclerosis Society special license plate. The bill is scheduled to be heard Tuesday, Feb. 16 at Noon in the House Transportation Committee in HR 7.
HB1883 - Accessible Parking Signs
by Rep. Grisamore
Under the bill, beginning August 28, 2010, all new accessible parking signs will not have the words "handicap" or "handicapped parking", but will instead have wording such as "accessible parking". The bill is scheduled for a hearing on Tuesday, Feb. 16th at 5:00 p.m. in the House Special Standing Committee on Infrastructure & Transportation Funding in HR 4.
