My Father was a repair man for Whirlpool for 20 years and was very proud that Whirlpool made Braille knobs for their machines, but when we brought our washer and dryer 22 years ago he picked ours out. John has them Brailled and does a wonderful job with the laundry.!!

Hi, Scott. that is not the problem. The center knob is not connected to the dial. The knob is so far from the washer markings that I cannot line it up. I have Braille labels on the washer marks I want to use. My washer is about 6 years old. Perhaps the new ones are different. I certainly hope so. The knob you turn and the ring below it are not connected. The knob and ring that Whirlpool gave me several years ago is made in one piece and has a "Braille" dot on it to line it up with the markings on the front of the washer. I will have to work this out some way. Phyllis

Dear Phyllis and Others,
I took the liberty of contacting the Americans with Disabilities Project that serves California because the center here in Missouri is closed. I was told manufactures of appliances do not have an obligation to put Braille labels on any of their products when used by a private individual. It would be a nice service if they did, That said.....
If a washer and dryer were located in a public area such as a laundromat, then they would be required to be marked in Braille.
Not knowing your situation, I would suggest asking someone who is sighted and guide you where to place Braille marks for your washer and dryer, even though Whirlpool did not.
Scott
