Congratulations to Teresa Evans, Lake Stockton Area Council of the Blind, as
January's MCB's Member of the Month. Thank you Teresa for your commitment to
MCB, your affiliate, and MCB. Thanks to Linda Dawes, Lake Stockton Area
Council of the Blind for nominating Teresa.

 

 

Nomination Letter...

Please consider Teresa Evans for the Member of the Month Award.  She has
made many contributions to Lake Stockton Area Council of the Blind over the
years.  The following is a list of Teresa's ideas, organizing efforts, and
hours of volunteer time.

Teresa has been a dedicated and valued member of the Lake Stockton Area
Council of the Blind since February 1999. 

Held bingo and furnished the prizes after the meetings for over eight years
and still going.

Planned fun activities including a Spring Fling in May 2005 and a Pizza
Party in August 2006.

Hosts the annual costume contest each October and furnishes the prizes.

Responsible for acquiring donations from community businesses and
organizations for the annual auction and dinner; prepares side dishes to go
with the annual dinner, provides ice and buys, buys, and buys many items at
the auction

With her husband as the driver provides transportation to individuals
needing rides to attend meetings, lunches at the senior site, appointments,
shopping, etc.

Visits the ill in the hospital, nursing/health care facilities, or at home. 

Has everything well organized and volunteers much time for the success of
Lake Stockton Area Council of the Blind.

Has held the position of Vice President and is now President of the Lake
Stockton Area affiliate. 

Most recently revived Lake Stockton's Birthday Dinner and Auction
Celebration held in August.  After many years of this event, the person
usually in charge could not carry out the responsibilities of the
dinner/auction due to illness; therefore, this event did not happen in 2008.
Bringing this activity back in August 2009 made many people happy as local
area affiliates joined Lake Stockton for a complimentary meal of fried
chicken, potato salad, baked bean, cole slaw, dinner roll, assorted
beverages and dessert.  Not only did members have a great time with food,
visiting, and out bidding each other, but this put a little money in Lake
Stockton's treasury.

Teresa Evans would be a great person for the Member of the Month Award.

The purpose of Missouri Council of the Blind shall be to promote the general
well-being of our members and legally blind people in Missouri, and to
support or participate in other programs promoting the best interests of
legally blind people everywhere.
