This is the weekly report for last which, which would normally have been
mailed out on Friday.
Highlights of the week's activities:
1. William Hawkins visited the office on Tuesday and Wednesday. On
Tuesday we met with representatives of US Bank to review our investments and
investment policy. On Wednesday we met with the representative from Wells
Fargo to review MCB's investments there, discuss an investment policy and
fees charged to MCB for services. William will be reporting on these
meetings at the next meeting of the Board of Directors.
2. Worked with William to plan for a conference call to be held with all
committee chairs on February 8. The call will provide an opportunity for
the committee chairs to report on the activities of their committees and to
let us know about specific challenges the committees may be facing or needs
they may have. A notice will be going out to all committee chairs with the
details of this call. We hope all committee chairs will plan to
participate.
3. 14 calendars were mailed this week.
4. There were no grant requests received this week. To date, we have
received 5. The last day for grant requests is February 1, 2010.
5. To date, we have received a total of 6 affiliate lists, which means
that there are 14 oustanding. Lists have been received from: Blind of
Central Missouri, Tower Club, Lake Stockton, AGAPE, Southeast Missouri and
Lake Stockton. The deadline for submitting the list is February 1, 2010.
6. We have mailed 3 Special Service grant applications, faxed 4 and 1 is
being held for additional information.
7. We have two additional participants in the Schnucks eScrip program.
8. Lowell looked into grand information from the Charles W. and Jean
Frees Foundation.
9. Lowell discussed event marketing and the potential for a signature
event for MCB with Tim Mirabella, Events Coordinator for the Foundation
Fighting Blindness, Midwest Region.
10. Lowell spoke again with Debbie Nauckie, Executive Director of Delta
Gamma. They are discussing the potential for raising money in a
collaborative effort for an event called Tandemonium. Participants from MCB
and Delta Gamma would be paired with sighted captains and ride on tandem
bicycles. The money raised would be used to purchase the tandem bicycles and
sponsor selected riders from both organizations.
11. Lowell spoke with Opaque Productions about the potential for MCB to
host a Dining in the Dark fund raiser. This company is the one that handles
the successful Dining in the Dark program for Alpha Pointe in Kansas City.
12. Lowell, Jennifer and Denny continue to work on the application to be
a donor participant of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation.
13. Lowell has started writing a proposal to Lighthouse for the Blind for
a grant to sponsor MCB's summer camps program.
