Greetings, Member of the Month Committee:

It is my distinct honor to present to you one of our most treasured sighted
members, Brandi Jones, Allied Workers of the Blind, for nomination as member
of the month for September. Brandi, her husband, Tom, and daughter, Molly,
reside in Independence Missouri. She is employed by JC Penny.

Brandi first appeared on the MCB scene in 1989, the daughter of one of MCB's
very popular Presidents, the late Ken Emmons. It did not take long for the
11-year-old to worm her way into the hearts of all MCB members.

While most young children are out running around doing whatever it is that
children do these days, Brandi spent most of her time attending board
meetings, conventions and such, assisting blind members of MCB around
hotels, airports, and the state and nation's capitals, just to name a few.

Brandi became an official member of MCB in 1996 joining her hometown
affiliate in Cape Girardeau. She was an active and instrumental member of
that affiliate for 10 years.

MCB mourned with Brandi and the Emmons family the loss of a powerful leader
within MCB, a good man, and a great dad, Ken Emmons. Brandi would be proud
to tell you that he was also her hero, and best friend.

After the passing of her father, many in MCB wondered how long it would take
before we'd lose the interest of his young energetic daughter. That question
was answered in very short order, as Brandi did not lose her love and
devotion for MCB. She became more dedicated than before.

At board meetings, Legislative day, state convention, you will find Brandi,
herding folks through an air port or bus station, running mics on the floor,
working the convention registration desk, or any where else the organization
or a member needs assistance.

After marrying Tom Jones in Las Vegas, Brandi moved to Independence and
joined Allied Workers for the Blind and was immediately put to work. I
cannot express in words what a blessing and asset she is for Allied Workers.
Since becoming a member of AWB, Brandi has been one of the inspirational
driving forces that has helped Allied become refocused and rededicated to
the mission of this organization. She has served as AWB's secretary, worked
on the PR committee, served on, (and now chairing), the fund raising
committee. Brandi also has been in charge of coordinating the decoration of
the AWB float, which we are proud to announce, has just recently appeared in
AWB'S third parade in Kansas City.

Brandi's energy and spirit touches everyone including her husband Tom. He
would be the first to tell you, that since he met Brandi, she has been the
driving force that inspired him to run and become the current AWB President,
Membership Chair Person for MCB, and attempt to run for the board of
Directors of MCB as well.

This is just a glimpse of Brandi Jones and what she means to AWB, along with
many of the members of MCB, but I hope it gives the committee some idea of
why we here in KC love her so much along with the rest of her fans across
the state of Missouri. It would be with much appreciation if this committee
could select Brandi Jones as its September winner for the member of the
month.

I'd like to thank the committee for it's time and consideration. I want to
also ask each member of MCB when you see our sighted members and volunteers
out and about, helping us, making it possible to have smooth running board
meetings, conventions, or any other MCB function, to stop and take the time
to let them know how much we appreciate and love each and every one of them.
