News Wire:
Can volunteer work contribute to a career? Indeed it can! Nan
Hawthorne, for years a trainer, writer and consultant in volunteering
and management of volunteer resources and author of dozens of articles
on disabilities and employment will share how to choose a volunteer
project that will help you build the skills and resume you need to
make yourself a competitive candidate for gainful work. She will also
offer advice on how to find the project you need for this, how to
present yourself to the organization offering the position, and how to
document your experience for your resume.

Nan Hawthorne was for years the owner of Sound Volunteer Management,
a nonprofit management consulting and training company, and she also
wrote on employment and Disabilities issues for eSight Careers Network
http://www.esightcareers.net
Her work in promoting effective volunteerism and in particular
inclusion of people with disabilities earned her recognition on an
international scale. She was the founder of CyberVPM, the first online
network for professionals in volunteer management and founded
International Volunteer manger Appreciation Day November 1 which is
now recognized in more than sixteen countries.

Come prepared to learn how varied and useful volunteering can be and
