Dear Denny,

I have been associated with the Adaptive Rowing Program in Louisville
Kentucky for about a year. Our coaches and volunteers provide a safe
environment in which they can share the joys of rowing with individuals with
disabilities of all types. Rowing is one of the few sporting activities
which offers able-bodied and disabled athletes an opportunity to participate
together on an equal playing field.

In our Program, no disability is turned away. Individuals from Middle School
age through adulthood are eligible to participate. Our Program has served a
wide range of disabilities including: Autistic, brain injured, vision
impaired, amputee, paraplegic, quadriplegic, cerebral palsy, spinal bifida,
cognitive impaired, intellectual impaired. We have trained rowers from as
far away as Washington and Oklahoma. Rowers are free to peruse recreational
and/or competitive goals as they wish.

Even though rowing is often overlooked by blind and visually impaired
people, some of our most successful rowers are people with those
disabilities.

During this past year, we were delighted to help train and prepare Denna
Lambert, a young lady who works for NASA in Washington D.C., for her first
competition at the 28th Bayada Regatta - National Adaptive Rowing
Championships held in Philadelphia this past August. I made a short video
documenting her experience. I thought you might enjoy seeing it. Here is the

I hope you find the video insightful. Perhaps it will help raise the
awareness of the opportunities that adaptive rowing may offer members of
your community.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Robert Black
