Subject: [Missouri-l] Office hours
Today's ACB office hours covered problems and concerns about the national
convention and changes to the ACB radio. President Pomerantz is in the
process of making committee assignments and is looking for a low vision
person for the Information Access committee. There will be other committee
assignments open for those who wish to put their names forward. Suggestions
for convention changes ranged from keeping a roster of ordained ministers
among the membership to pinch hit when the plans of the host committee fall
through. Fuller descriptions of meal choices so that conventioneers can
tell if a bone or sauces are going to be part of the fare. Setting up lane
markers or barriers to aid in people moving through registration lines more
efficiently. The president of the newly formed diabetes affiliate wanted a
fresh fruit or sugar free choice for banquet dessert. Larry Turnbull also
described some of his plans for ACB Radio. Other convention problems
discussed were the failure of one of the buses to show for a tour, one
docent failing to show for the space tour the lack of a Jewish service or
rabbi and difficulty locating volunteers when needed. Next year's hotel
will be the downtown Sheraton, but rooms can't be booked until sometime
after Labor Day. Officers on the call included the president, first vice
president, and Michael Garret.
