[Missouri-l] Walter Cronkite (1916-2009)

Missouri's, indeed, St. Joe's, favorite son Walter Cronkite died  today.  
With all the excessive hoopla surrounding Michael Jackson's death,  I hope 
the media will devote its attention to a true American hero who did not  have 
any skeletons in his closet.  He reported the news fairly and  honestly.  
Who could not forget seeing him wiping his tearstained face and  removing his 
horn-rimmed glasses, announcing President John F. Kennedy was  fatally shot 
or rubbing his hands together with glee when Neil  Armstrong first set foot 
in the moon?  He showed courage, too,  telling his television audience we 
ought to get out of Vietnam. He was  voted The Most-Trusted Person in America 
several times, even above Reverend  Billy Graham.  But he was modest and 
humbled by all these accolades.   I just finished reading his autobiography, A 
Reporter's Life, and he  was as real as real can be.  Rest in Peace, Uncle 
Walter.  And that's  the way it is.....
