Subject: [leadership] re: Belize Center for the Visually Impaired donations

Hello friends and colleagues, last week while on vacation through Belize, I
had the opportunity to visit with a visually impaired friend of mine who is
in the Peace Corps, stationed in Belize City, Belize. While there for the
day, we toured a few local landmarks as well as stopping in to the
headquarters of
the Belize Center for the Visually Impaired. It was interesting to hear of
their service delivery and programming to the blind and visually impaired
population of the country.

With few available resources, many visually impaired folks are not afforded
the opportunity to use a white cane, talking watch, hand held magnifier and
such low vision aids that we have convenient access to on a daily basis
here in the states. The agency director was happy to accept our offer of
support of any white canes and/or low vision aids that could be donated to
the agency for distribution to blind and low vision citizens of Belize.

Rob, my friend who is in the Peace Corps has agreed to have any items
shipped to his address in Tucson, Arizona. Once items are shipped there, he
would assure shipment to the agency in Belize.

If you and others from the company or agency that you work or volunteer for
could kindly consider donations of white canes and other goods, please email
me off list at richardrueda at sbcglobal.net and we'll see to it that your
donation get to blind and visually impaired citizens in Belize.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of this request.
