Subject: [leadership] FW: TUESDAY TOPICS: WHO DECIDES WHAT AND HOW DO THEY
DO IT IN ACB?

The American Council of the Blind started in 1961 and, right from the
beginning, wrote a constitution that created serious checks and
balances. Many folks do not understand just how the constitution works.
We thought it might be interesting to look at a bunch of questions that
seem to come up. How open is open? What decisions does ACB make in
Executive sessions? How does our approach compare with that of the NFB?
Where does the Board of Publications fit in? Is our system a good one?
Does it do what it is supposed to? How does the way we operate limit
what we can do? Should we seek to change the way we operate?

This may seem like a boring topic but it is really interesting to look
at how our rules affect how we do things. The President of ACB is not
nearly as free to act as is the President of the NFB. As we look back
at our history, how has this affected how we function and how others see
us? I hope you will join us to look at how ACB decides things. We will
start firing up our mikes a little before nine Eastern Daylight this
evening, April 14th which translates to 1 UTC. Now here is more
information on how to get to the Politics Room and what to do once you
arrive.

Using a web browser, go to
http://www.conference321.com/masteradmin/room.asp?id=rs510b693fb11f to
enter the Politics Room.

There you must either download a small application if this is your first
time there, or go on to enter the room. The next screen has a spot for
you to input your real name and a password. Ignore the password. Just
enter your name and press enter.

The new room looks a lot different from the old one. Please take some
time and explore particularly the help menu and its accessibility
submenu.

If you cannot join us tonight, please listen starting next Monday at
8:00 p.m. eastern to hear this program on the mainstream channel of
ACBRADIO.
