Mark Laird, Deputy Director for RSB, has asked me to get some feedback from
the MCB members on the following.

RSB will be receiving stimulus funding from the ARRA of 2009. This funding
provides an unprecedented opportunity for VR agencies to implement
innovative strategies to improve employment outcomes for our constituents.
The authorized use of the supplemental funds is to create/save jobs and
build capacity to create/save jobs consistent with the authorized use of
funds under the Rehabilitation Act. I would very much like your insight
into strategies that you believe might accomplish these objectives.

Vocational Rehab will be receiving approximately 1.5 million, the Older
Adult services will receive around 700 thousand and the Independent Living
service will receive 33 thousand.

If you have any suggestions as to how this money can be best spent to
achieve the goals mentioned above, please reply and give me your input.

I met with Mark and Gary Wonder, Missouri NFB president this past week and
several great ideas were discussed on creating new employment opportunities
for the blind and visually impaired. Although RSB most likely will not know
how much they will actually be receiving for another month or so, they would
like to begin formulating some sort of plan on how to best utilize this
money. Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Denny Huff
