60TH ANNIVERSARY MISSOURI WHITE CANE WEEK!!!
The Springfield Service Club of the Blind invites you to attend the White Cane Walk in Springfield on May 9. The proclamation designating the week of May 15-21 as Missouri White Cane Week was signed in 1949.
The Walk will be from 11 am to 3 pm at Phelps Grove Park pavilion as usual. The Service Club provides lunch. Several Springfield dignitaries will be walking blindfolded and using a cane. We are working on entertainment but don't have any definite answers yet.
There will be a very good prize for the person raising the most money for the Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation. For the past few years, we have not raised very much money for this good cause. The Foundation works to find cures for blindness and to prevent blindness. This is a cause we can all relate to, so get those donations, no pledges, please.
There will also be door prizes for those attending. Please bring pieces of paper about 2 by 3 inches with each persons name written on them. Bring these to the Walk to be put in the drawings.
Please let us know how many will be coming so we can be sure to have enough food. Call Phyllis at 417 883-7408 or Leo at 417 866-5778 before May 4. Thank you. Come and help celebrate Missouri White Cane Week.
